Nir Kumar Rai (Niru)
Managing Director / Founder 

Mr. Nir Kumar Rai began his career in the tourism industry at a young age. Starting as a porter on treks, he progressed through various roles, including kitchen crew, trekking cook, and eventually, a seasoned trekking guide. Leveraging his extensive experience and dedication, he established Adventure Geo Treks in 2003. This agency has since become one of the country's leading tourism operators.

Beyond his business success, Mr. Rai has created significant employment opportunities for residents of Basa and other regions. Adventure Geo Treks has provided livelihoods for hundreds of individuals, enabling them to work locally and avoid the hardships of migrating for employment.

Mr. Rai is also deeply committed to social development. As chairman of the BASA FOUNDATION, he spearheads numerous community projects in rural areas. Having experienced limited access to education in his own childhood due to the absence of a local school, he established the first school in Basa village. This school provides free education, with teacher salaries funded by Adventure Geo Treks and donations from its clients and partners.

Through the collaborative efforts of the Basa Foundation, Nepal, and the Basa Foundation, USA, Mr. Rai has implemented several transformative projects in Basa village. These include the installation of smokeless stoves to mitigate smoke-related health issues, the provision of electricity to replace hazardous kerosene lamps, and the development of a clean water supply system. Furthermore, through his partnership with the French organization SOL HIMAL, over 100 families and underprivileged children now receive ongoing educational support. Mr. Rai firmly believes in the principle of 'doing good brings good' and remains dedicated to providing assistance wherever possible.

 

Germany Branch Manager – Klaus Teuchert

Klaus Teuchert is our representative in Germany. Since young age Klaus used to do trekking in the mountains of the world. In 2001 he went for the first time in Nepal for Everest trek and Tibet tour.

In 2003 he came back for Kanchenjunga Trek and this time he learned and appreciates the work of Adventure Geo Treks Nepal. At that time the company was just newly established but with the experience and hard work of Niru Rai and his team the organization was perfect. The service and the overwhelming friendliness of the staff were excellent for Klaus. So he now started to visit Nepal every year for different treks and expedition with Adventure Geo Treks, at that time Niru used to guide in Teuchi’s treks and they together went for many trekkings and became very good friends.

In 2008 they both discuss to open a branch office in Germany and since April 2009 Klaus is the professional full-time manager of Adventure Geo Treks Deutschland. Klaus Teuchert has been providing valuable information and assistance to many travels from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other countries for tips in Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan and India. Today Niru’s and Teuchi’s families are very close friends and meet regularly in Germany and in Kathmandu and in the Adventure Geo Treks home village of Basa. www.geotreks.de

 

North American Consultant - Jeff Rasley

Jeff advises our North American clients to help them plan a tour, trek, or mountaineering expedition to the Himalayan region. Jeff has led or participated in 13 Himalayan expeditions, is the author of several books about Nepal, and is the founder and president of the Basa Village Foundation USA Inc. He uses his considerable experience to help clients plan an individual trip or to organize a group trek/tour.
